I watched 'The Idea of You' and wrote down my thoughts in chronological order.
And what's next on my watch & read list.
Before we get started, I’ve been thinking of ways to make this newsletter more you focused and less me focused.
Meaning: How can I be of value? I like the idea of doing a FAQ column, kind of like an AMA, or even a Secret Question Box.
I also like the idea of compiling a list of everything I bought this month vs what I wanted to buy and including links.
I also like the idea of doing my own lukewarm takes on what’s new and exciting in popular culture, like #tradwives, like #babybieber, like #babyreindeer, and other htings that are new to me but maybe old to other people. It takes me awhile to process!
I also like the idea of a Book Club. This one has never stuck no matter how hard I have tried, which honestly, wasn’t very hard.
My takeaway from a movie about single mom dating a twenty something is that married women between the ages of 35 - 100 are bored as f*ck and need something to light them up from the inside.
I was caught up in the fantasy, much like everyone else, but I would have liked to see more of what would make this relationship challenging.
Does she need lube because she is peri-menopausal? Why does he have a thing for older women? Is he fetishizing her because she made him a fucking sandwich like she was giving him an after school snack?
I’m wondering if the book offers more depth and if not, why are people really out here salivating for a romance that is so off the charts never gonna happen ever unless you are Olivia Wilde, and even she couldn’t keep her man?
And now, a play by play of my brain while watching the softest core porn for bored middle aged women with a hard on for a smooth chest.
The Subaru Forester doesn’t track.
Wow, I really like her boots. Rachel Comey?
Camping alone? I could never. But if that’s what it takes to look like Anne Hathaway, I’ll do it.
Boots in the house. Tsk tsk.
Is she that hot everyday?
Why is she wearing a dress to set up camp?
Ex husband is hot but douchey.
Ok, I need to just watch.
How did she not recognize the most famous boy bander ever?
Lol at him acting like a big kid in the trailer.
Justin Bieber is wayyy better than August Moon.
Dancing is weak.
Again, how is Solene so hot? It’s unrealistic to be that hot.
Also, she didn’t change her clothes for Coachella? How nonchalant. So “chill”.
YEA RIGHT
How is the daughter not jealous of her mom?
Making a sandwich never sounded so promising.
Could they have picked a more maternal thing for her to do? Is this intentional?
Would I go to New York?
All that from a finger bang? I guess that’s what happens with a young pop star.
Do I need that night gown?
Most unbelievable thing about this storyline is that she didn’t tell anyone!!
Eva announcing her break up is weird.
Could the book be better or worse?
“Alright, I’ve had a moment?” lol ok
Wait- he moves in with her and her daughter? Seems fast.
They are in bed a lot. Is this normal? I forget.
Lots of things i can’t decipher now because I was obviously looking at the screen while writing in very messy cursive.
She is not your wife, Daniel!
But why is he her live in boyfriend now?
After all that, and her ex is the one to snap her back into reality?
“people hate happy women” - I conquer.
Is 24 that young?
What is this movie about?
Could they have explored an age gap relationship without the element of celebrity?
Breaking up with him in the car at the airport. Solene is savage.
He cannot forgive her for the second time.
Who leaves someone at the airport??
And here he is. At the door.
They be fuckin a lot.
Purple lighting. Where the f are they?
How does the kitchen light change color?
Please don’t do a 5 years later.
They did it.
But what did she do for 5 whole years? Please don’t tell me she was waiting.
Solene, the song isn’t even good. And neither is the goatee.
Did she cry for 5 years for that boy?
What I’d really like to see is when she actually starts to look 45.
This looks good.
And this.
But I am waiting until my friends catch up so nobody spoil it for me.
I judge books by their covers. Saw these today.
