A new chance for a fresh start, a mild kidnapping, and foods to ring in the Lunar New Year.
And a little rant on the non-alcoholic beverage industry.
Happy Lunar New Year! If you missed the boat on updating your software to the better, shinier version of yourself, you have another chance. No pressure. Just decide here and now that the you that you always talk about being will finally come out of your imagination and into this realm. How can you do that? Well, you could start by dusting off your boots, taking a long look at your resolutions from years past and add them to this years (new) list because this time you really mean it. I know you do.
That’s what I told myself this morning. After writing weeks of morning pages all detailing the same tasks and goals that I never get to because I am constantly pushing them to the back burner to serve other people aka my lovely children and dear husband, I realized that none of it matters until I take action. I can plan and dream all I want about this person that I think I am somewhere deep down, but none of it is real unless I actually change something about my present to align with the future that I am imagining for myself.
What is is that people say? You don’t change until you get sick of yourself? Well, I’m sick of myself guys, and I mean that in the most compassionate way possible. Sick of not valuing myself enough to do what I think is important, like sitting my butt down on the chair to write something. Or delegating tasks so that I can free up time to sit my butt down on the chair. It all comes down to just getting the butt on the chair which is another way of saying, commit to your goals. Like my 5 year old daughter, regurgitating my own words, said to me, you’re in charge of your body and what you do.

In the spirit of resolutions, if your plan was to start meditating in 2023, I have the perfect mini meditation for you. It’s also my first mini podcast, complete with the sound of me swallowing. I’m practicing not being perfect at everything and that means *imperfect content and lots of uncomfortable feelings about it. It’s a win-win for both of us.
